It's thought the singer could join the show in 2010, when current Dr David Tennant is replaced by the newly announced Matt Smith. Executive producer of Dr Who, Piers Wenger, told the Telegraph of Allen's possible role: "We would never cast anyone on the basis of their celebrity, but if Lily wanted to audition we would be delighted. It would be a lot of fun." But now it seems that the model could become an actual choice to play the Doctor's sidekick. Rumours of who it will be began after the shock announcement that virtual unknown Matt, 26, will take over as Time Lord from David Tennant early in 2010. Gina Bellman, 42, from New Zealand, who has appeared in Jekyll and Coupling, is a favourite for the coveted role. Other names being tossed about include former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan and Carey Mulligan who played Sally Sparrow in a previous Doctor Who episode. The BBC is likely to keep its choice of his helper as secret as the name of the new Time Lord. During an interview on last night's edition of The One Show Kelly Brook revealed that the Doctor Who casting team are interested in casting her as the new assistant. In the BBC1 programme, screened live last night in the UK, the former model and Big Breakfast presenter was asked by host Christine Bleakley for some info after revealing that the actress was second favourite to play the Eleventh Doctor's traveling companion - to which a surprised-looking Brook exclaimed, "Really?" However, she continued saying, "I don't know anything about it. I know some casting directors came to see my play but that's as far as I know." (The play in question is Fat Pig which came to the end of its run in November of last year.) Kelly Brook gained success in the UK in the Nineties through her modeling and advertising but went onto to find fame presenting The Big Breakfast on Channel 4. Since then, Brook has competed in Strictly Come Dancing and will be part of the judging panel in this year's Britain's Got Talent. But don't hold that against her as she can act, with a number of stage productions under her belt along with appearances in shows such as Smallville and Hotel Babylon.
